Chat Tutoring

This summer we will have chat tutoring available all day long. Our chat tutors use Blackboard’s Collaborate to meet students in a private online room equipped with live audio and a file sharing application. QWC chat tutorials are different than our online email tutorials, which do not require students to meet us online. The online email tutor comments on the uploaded paper and returns it by email. By contrast, chat tutoring provides the advantage of live one-on-one interaction. During a chat tutorial, students talk with their tutors about any phase of the writing process, from brainstorming to organizing to citing sources, and many students revise their papers during their sessions.

When you select the chat option, make sure to upload your paper before your appointment and please remember to paste your tutor’s URL into your browser 5-10 minutes before your appointment time. You can find your tutor’s URL at the top of the appointment form, or you can check here.

We’ve created a Chat Tutoring page that explains how to meet your tutor online and includes FAQs. Please email Bob Haslam (rhaslam@uark.edu) or call 479.575.2527 with any questions. (photos by Shelby Gill)
